Francois and Mabel van Schalkwyk
Francois grew up in an average household and started working as an employee until he got to a point where he realised that the path he was on would not lead to the freedom he desired.
He decided to start his own accounting practice. After a while he realised that he was definitely earning more money, but at the cost of his family time. Around this time he was also asked to partner up with a roofing company with great potential, but soon learned that being in business with people who don’t share the same values just doesn’t work.
Whilst running his accounting practice, Francois and Mabel were introduced to Network Marketing. Francois immediately saw this as an opportunity to retire from his accounting practice. He had actually been affirming, since the age of 40, that he would retire from his business on or before the age of 45.
Mabel was a gym manager, fitness instructor and professional athlete and definitely knew more about selling and healthy choices than Francois. As a sales consultant, she had to start at zero every month. Mabel soon learned that Network Marketing is more about sharing a story and identifying needs than a normal sales business. This made the business fun to do and she soon realised, due to this duplicatable system, that she was not starting at zero every month.
They started their Mannatech journey together as product users only. Based on his mother’s improvement in her quality of life at age 64, they decided to share her story and it turned into a business from there. Francois was able to retire from his accounting practice and spend more time with his family.
Francois and Mabel have both travelled numerous times overseas, including Hawaii, Bahamas, Mauritius, etc.
This business enabled them to home-school both of their children and ticked off a lot on their dream board, including taking care of both their parents, travelling to different countries and having choices in life.
Today they say, “We are empowering people with their health and finances and we enjoy every minute doing it."
